Presentation and discussion at the renowned Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society.

Oliver Szasz, one of the founding partners of Symbio(s)cene, spoke about the potential of design in the context of transformative change. Title of his presentation: “RE-IMAGINE – Artistic Approaches and Interventions as Catalysts for Transformative Metaphors and Narratives of Alternative Futures”. Oliver Szasz is professor for design at the Macromedia University of Applied Sciences, where he is head of the international Master’s programme Design Management. His Symbio(s)cene co-founders Dr Tina Heger and Ingrid Rügemer also joined the Tuesday discussion, a highly recommended series of talks at the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society.

The talk event was followed by the exhibition opening of “People – Nature – Future II”, an exhibition curated by Symbio(s)cene, showing the internationally awarded works by the Scandinavian artist duo Karoline Hjorth and Riitta Ikonen. In their remarkable art project »Eyes as Big as Plates«, which has been ongoing since 2011, the artists explore the relationship between people and nature.
